Another one of my applications has made it to print! This time it’s Remix DJ: SpeakEZ. It was reviewed in BigShotMag a magazine that caters to DJ’s and extreme music enthusiasts. You can see it in Issue #29 which is available now!

BiGShotMag_Iss29_Cover remixdjspeakez2Here’s the Review:

Speak EZ (keyvisuals.com)
Price: Free

Description: Remember the Speak N’ Spell? Remix DJ does,
and they’ve done a virtual version for the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Pros: A wide selection of phrases, plus the alphabet and numbers 0-9
for your to trigger.

Cons: The buttons are a bit small, and response sometimes lags.

But for free, it’s not much to complain about. You also can’t circuit bend it
like a real SnS; but, that’s what xternal effects are for.

Verdict: You win.

liveviewLiveView is a very cool utility for both Developers & Designers. Basically it allows you to define a 320×480 view of anything on your Mac desktop and displays it directly on your iPhone screen. So if you are using Photoshop/Fireworks, ect you can view the comp live on your device without having to build or compile anything in X Code! Big time saver for creating pixel perfect layouts.

Here’s how to remove the shinny gloss look that is automagically added to your app icon by xCode. Sometimes you just don’t want to look like everyone else ;-)

You have to add the line

UIPrerenderedIcon

to your Info.plist file. Change its value to boolean and then add a check mark like below . . .

That will change this into this :

Review Scraper is the ideal app to download App Store reviews on a global scale. The App can be downloaded HERE free from Google Code and needs to be compiled.

[nggallery id=2]

Developers can easily track what people are saying about their apps and see how it ranks in all the App Store countries.

• Search for apps using a familiar interface.

• Translate app reviews into your native language (language support is limited to what the Google Translation API supports).

• Downloaded app reviews are saved and can be easily deleted.

MajicRank is a free application for Mac OS X (10.5+) designed to give iPhone App Developers an easy way to see how popular their applications are around the world.

majicrank

It automatically downloads top 100 statistics for any iPhone app, for any categories or game sub categories, for most regions from iTunes, and displays the results in a colored table. Note that though the screenshot only shows 8 regions, the rest can be added in the preferences menu.

MajicRank 1.2 can be downloaded from http://majicjungle.com/MajicRank.zip (0.5MB)

Here is another excellent tool for developers to track their daily/weekly/monthly sales figures from iTunes Connect. It’s the Open Source appsales-mobile app. It can be checked out of the GoogleCode Repository HERE using any SVN client. I use the free RapidSVN

From their site:

The newest reports can be downloaded with a single tap and all numbers are automatically converted to your (selectable) local currency.

With clear bar charts you’ll get a quick daily overview of how your apps are doing in the store. For each report you can view percentages of countries and each of your product’s share of the revenue.

The Graphs section offers trend charts for all or individual apps and a pie chart that shows revenue by region for a selectable date range.

asist-200x300 I came across this little gem called MyAppSales at drobnik.com It’s an app that allows you to download and chart the sales reports available to developers on iTunes Connect. Unfortunately for various and sundry reasons Apple has rejected this app multiple times and will not allow it to go up for sale in the app store.

The developer is selling the source code to the app for $15. He can be reached via PayPal (oliver@drobnik.com) and will send you the source project. He also intends on providing free updates to source license holders.

I personally have purchased the app and am very impressed. I use it to check my reports on a daily basis.

I’m sure you remember the classic 1st person shooter Wolfenstein 3d. The creators iD Software have revived the game once again and ported it to run on the iPhone. Non developers can buy the game from the App store for $4.99 Interestingly though, if you are an iPhone Developer, the full source files for the game are released free under an open source license. A full paid ($99) iPhone developer license is required in order to compile the code on your own device.

The source code can be downloaded here from Id’s ftp server

If you are interested in running Wolf3d on the iPhone simulator you need to make some minor code modification. Instruction can be found at ghostradio.net

iGat is NOT a “copy cat” app. It was submitted to Apple on February 4th and held in limbo for 6 weeks.

(Some reviewers think I took these sounds from the game Counter Strike. I did NOT steal any sounds from any game. If you think otherwise please contact me through my support email and I will personally show you where I BOUGHT these Original sounds.)

iGat is for entertainment purposes only! Please use iGat responsibly.
